Big thanks to @patagoniapasadena for keeping the c Big thanks to @patagoniapasadena for keeping the crew warm this chilly winter. Snow and subsequent road closures have made access to trail projects difficult. We had to cancel our work on Silver Moccasin again this month, so we tackled the brush on the bottom end of Idlehour. We are looking forward to the snow melting so we can assess the storm damage and get to work!💪

Here’s some of the crew checking out Condor after the big storm. February 26th, 2023 “The Land Bridge” Condor Peak Trail 3,050 feet of elevation.
We have been helping Tujunga Trails Posse (TTP) wo We have been helping Tujunga Trails Posse (TTP) work on Yerba Buena Trail when we can find the time. Lead by Kristin, they have taken on this remote project that offers great connectivity to Condor and Mendenhall Ridge. Along this harrowing cliffed-out section of trail, volunteer Matt from TTP masterminded this retaining wall built out of repurposed pieces of Sutter wall. All of the materials to build the wall were found on the trail likely from before the 2009 Station Fire or earlier when the USFS had contractor work planned. @name_and_number lead a crew of Lowelifes to help out TTP this past weekend and captured this time lapse footage over the course of two days! Make sure to watch the end of the 2nd slide to see the finished product. Lowelifes can only dream to be as C👀L as TTP when we are their age.⚡️🙏🤯
We are the Lowelifes. Come volunteer with us and m We are the Lowelifes. Come volunteer with us and meet folks who share the same interests. TRAILS! If you’re curious what it’s like to volunteer with us, Oregon based @oldmanmountainracks joined us to document just that! They have been treating us like family for years, and finally this year we got to connect with them in person and ride bikes, do trail work, camp in the woods… good times, even better folks. Hit the link in the bio to see their video, “LA Doesn’t Need Mountain Biking” featuring us!

Lowelifes Trail Crew was busy this past week. We h Lowelifes Trail Crew was busy this past week. We had to adjust plans to camp at Chilao and work Silver Moccasin due to snow. Friday on Silver Moccasin (way below the snow) we finished restoring a long-abandoned section of cliffed-out trail. Saturday we worked Gabrielino just below Bear Canyon Trail junction doing brushing. We had special guests @estephers9 and @haleymarshalllll in attendance from the @u.s.forestservice. Sunday we worked on Strawberry Peak Trail restoration again from the Colby Bridge as a shared stewardship project with Bear Canyon Trail Crew. This segment of Strawberry north of the Colby Canyon Trail junction is coming along. It had been untouched since the 2009 Station Fire. Belfree Contractors built a reroute recently to avoid sensitive habitat in Big Tujunga Creek that rejoins with the old trail alignment. The restoration is coming along, but lots of work is still needed.

Has everyone been remembering to go check out Cond Has everyone been remembering to go check out Condor? Get out there! @name_and_number was out there yesterday doing some storm cleanup and the trail is looking great! Here’s a beautiful day on Condor back in December with the best dude @pedalhomie shooting Lowelifes volunteers @stepho_ and @hannah_g1rl enjoying the fruits of their labor.
Looking Back at 2022… “…was a special year f Looking Back at 2022… “…was a special year for Lowelifes. We worked year-round on Angeles National Forest trails, finished our inaugural project on the Condor Peak Trail, and dove deep into a growing list of trail restorations within the Bobcat Fire burn zone.” Reflect on Lowelifes accomplishments in 2022 in a new article up on our website - LINK IN BIO.

This past Thursday and Friday we scooted around th This past Thursday and Friday we scooted around the Forest on bikes like we do and got some work done. Swipe ⬅️ to see the action!

Thursday we cleared all the trees, did brushing, and tackled a slide on Strawberry from Red Box to the Colby junction then Colby all the way to Highway 2. Friday we did tread work and brushing a little over 2 miles down on Kenyon Devore and cleared a tree with hand saws on the Gabrielino near Valley Forge. With another storm unleashing on the mountains as we speak, I’m sure there’s some new projects out there. It’s gonna be a busy year out there 💦.
