Big thanks to every one who joined us today for our 1st weekend volunteer trail work since December 2020!🎉 Special thanks to new volunteers @velogirl5 @name_and_number @lazerpics11 and USFS Rec Techs @drew.220 and @saladrays !!! Be sure to check out more in our stories.

We had a 0700 crew ride in on bikes and work near the Land Bridge and a 0800 crew by foot cleaning up tread along the bottom just beyond the first saddle. Despite the heat we got some great work done. Nice job everyone!

@lowelifesrcc would like to give A BIG THANK YOU to @gozwift @endocustoms and @socalyetifam for finding creative ways to fundraise for our organization during a time where we have not been able to organize volunteer work. It’s a great feeling to have the support of the community behind you. It really validates the mission. So thank you, thank you, thank you! We have used these funds to buy better tools so we can do cleaner work and more efficiently maintain the trails we work on.

@gozwift hosted a series of virtual rides with athlete @paysonmcelveen where riders who completed the series unlocked a special kit purchase where the proceeds went to Lowelifes. Thank you @gozwift and @crystal_haggard @mattnoble100 for putting this together and to @paysonmcelveen for repping Lowelifes!!

Big thank you to @endocustoms for hosting a very successful launch of our first piece of official merchandise. Endo did an amazing and professional job AND ON TOP OF THAT threw in additional financial support to us! So generous!! It was a pleasure to work with you Bobby! Currently, the @u.s.forestservice is allowing us to take small crews out during the week. Tomorrow we are taking a small strike team up to Lightning Point to ride in to upper Condor Peak. We are going to continue hacking thru the completely brushed in trail tread in between 3N32 Mendenhall Ridge Rd and the summit of Condor Peak Trail.

If you’ve ever attempted Condor from Mendenhall, Trail Canyon Trail or with bigger loops like Fall Cyn, you know how nasty this section of trail is!

It is VERY exciting to continue our work. Snow in the winter of 2019/2020 shut easy access off and the volunteer shutdowns during the pandemic have kept us out of the area since December 2019. Great to be heading back to such a beautiful and rarely visited area of the Angeles National Forest!

We are VERY EXCITED to show you @lowelifesrcc first official piece of merchandise DROPPING AT 1PM THURSDAY 4/22 ON @endocustoms website. What a fun project it has been to team up with @endocustoms @mcfetridge and @kylebkelley to come up with a stylish piece that will not only have you looking fly, but also feeling good about wearing a #LosAngeles made product that supports our trails. There will be two color ways on offer. Recently @lowelifesrcc president @gotukus had the pleasure of showing @mtbchriso around Chilao.

We met Chris back in 2018 when he instructed a trail summit for the Angeles National Forest that many local trail crews got to attend. Since then the quality of work getting done on the Angeles has noticeably improved. Chris’ teaching methodology empowers you, inspires you, and his message is easy to understand all the while being the most humble guy ever even though he absolutely rips on a bike. Then when you realize all the adversity he has faced you realize how much you gotta step up your game. Y’all should follow him and read up on all his amazing talents ranging from building bike parks to building custom orthotics with a lot of other skills in between.

Here’s his GoPro footage of us sending the “whale tail” line on Mt Hillyer which by the way... he also restores whale bones for a museum. No joke!

It was fun to talk trails with Chris and about some of our exciting plans to improve recreation and expand stewardship at Chilao. People are still installing new water bars at Chilao and modifying switchbacks with rock steps that exacerbate erosion and degrade the trail user experience (they obviously didn’t attend the 2018 trail summit). I have also personally seen “booby traps” put out for mountain bikers on Silver Mocassin (swipe to see)!

We love Chris and hope to cross paths with him as often as we can!
